Homelessness remains a pressing issue in Lafayette, with approximately 400 individuals experiencing homelessness, including 205 who are unsheltered. To address this challenge, Lafayette Consolidated Government (LCG) has been actively collaborating with various agencies and organizations to develop comprehensive solutions.
Christina Dayries, Chief of Staff with LCG, emphasized the complexity of the issue, stating, “Homelessness is a complex issue that affects not only those experiencing housing insecurity, but also the quality of life and safety of our entire community. There is no single solution. Addressing these challenges requires collaboration among government, nonprofit organizations, healthcare providers, law enforcement, emergency responders, and the community as a whole.”
LCG’s multi-agency efforts focus on providing emergency and transitional shelter beds, enhancing support services, and implementing long-term strategies to reduce homelessness. The administration’s commitment underscores the importance of a compassionate and coordinated approach to improve the well-being of all Lafayette residents.
